Situated on Gamble Bay, the design of this waterfront residence began with a challenge: Is it possible to design a new 2,500 sf Northwest contempary residence juxtaposed with an existing 1970's cabin constrained by site conditions, shoreline setbacks, and critical area requirements, beautifully?

Enthused by the owners' (artists) challenge, Hecker Architects' design approach for the new dwelling became an assembly of playful building forms echoing the steep pitched roofs of the original cabin (now guest quarters). To unify the varios elements, shingle siding and metal roofing were selected to integrate the old with the new.
